Week 4
This week I have been working on acquiring writers for the project. As of now, I have reached out to over 15 women and asked if they were interested in writing for me. I have encountered a lot of obstacles, however, especially because I decided that I want to include visuals in the booklet as well. I want to be able to shoot all 4 women and because of the timing for this project, I will have to limit my search to women in NYC since that will be more accessible for me. I also encountered some problems with finding older women who would be willing to write for me. I have decided that perhaps it is best if I stick to only young women so I can meet the dates of the class. I still need to draw out my timeline but I think using younger women will really expedite the process for me since I know a lot more women of younger demographics.
As of now, I have one confirmed writer. Her name is Paula Najas and she is a good friend of mine. I am very excited to include her as I really believe in her writing. I also am happy that she is Latin American because I feel that I need that kind of representation in my book especially with my own Hispanic background.
In other news, I think I would like to develop this as less of a book and more of a magazine. I would like to do more than one issue of this and use the first one as my guinea pig. I decided that for this issue I will use only young women and hopefully, I can move on from there and somehow expand to have more women with strong voices.
I also have decided on a name: Lolita. To the right, I was trying to do some wire frames on what I want the logo to look like...
